Latest News: 27-Feb-2012

Well of course the BIG NEWS is that Jim's daughters, Lucy and Kate Macgregor, along with their partner Annie Lush, all from Poole, have been selected to represent Team GB in the Ladies Match Racing at the 2012 Olympics in Portland. Match racing is a highly specialised form of competitive sailing, and is epitomised by the famous Americas Cup Matches. This will be the first time that Match Racing has been seen at the Olympics, and it is probably one of the best sailing events for spectators because the racing takes place within a small area near to the shore and there are only two boats in each race. Either you win or you lose. The event is a knockout competition much like Championship Tennis. The Match Race Girls are currently ranked Number 2 in the World, and you can follow their progress at www.matchracegirls.com

We are delighted to be able to offer a special opportunity to watch the action.

Our 2012 Weymouth Sailing Experience!

At least one of our prestigious Elan 40's will be based in Weymouth during the Olympic Games, offering guests an exciting opportunity to get a real taste of the 2012 sailing experience.

While trips will be fully tailored to suit customers' requirements, here is an outline of what a 24 hour experience could include;

Suggested activity plan

Our day will begin mid-morning when the guests will be welcomed onto the yacht by the crew and helped to familiarise themselves with the boat. Following a review of the weather and preferred sailing options over coffee, we will then sail out to Weymouth Bay in proximity to the race areas or further afield to enjoy the beautiful Jurassic coast close up.

A buffet lunch will be served on board before returning to join in the buzz onshore, including coverage of the action on a live screen on the beach a short walk from the berth. There is a myriad of cultural and other events planned for Weymouth over this period, full details of which can be found at www.dorsetforyou.com/london2012

Guests are then invited to meet back on the yacht for a sundowner before dinner in one of the excellent quayside restaurants, pre-booked to suit your taste and budget, before returning to the yacht to sleep.

After a relaxing night afloat, a light breakfast will be served on board before departure around 10:00 . Should you wish to enjoy a second day in Weymouth from the shore we can make arrangements to look after your luggage until you start your journey home.

Mooring and Accommodation

We will be rafted alongside Weymouth Quay right in the heart of Weymouth 's bustling harbour. Sleeping 6 guests comfortably, accommodation is in 3 double cabins with further berths in the saloon. The fore cabin has en suite facilities, with a further toilet accessed from the saloon. Well-maintained shower and toilet facilities are available on the quayside adjacent to the berth. The Quay is superbly located within easy walking distance of the Live Site on the beach and the Nothe Fort, which is the ticketed sailing venue on the South side of the harbour. There are numerous pubs, cafes and restaurants on the quayside and the main shopping centre is a few minutes walk.
